Coming off one of the most productive stretches of his career, the veteran edge rusher could give Brian Flores another experienced defender to strengthen an already talented front seven.
While Minnesota has invested heavily in its pass rush, there are still questions about the depth behind its top contributors. The Vikings are counting on 2024 first-round pick Dallas Turner to take a significant leap in his second NFL season while hoping Andrew Van Ginkel can remain healthy after another strong campaign. There's also optimism that Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins can develop into a valuable rotational piece.
Adding a proven veteran like Van Noy would provide valuable insurance while allowing the team's younger pass rushers to continue developing without the pressure of carrying a full workload.
The 35-yar-old has quietly become one of the NFL's most productive veteran pass rushers over the past two seasons. After revitalizing his career in Baltimore, he has consistently generated pressure while remaining a dependable run defender. His versatility allows him to rush from multiple alignments, set the edge against the run and contribute in a variety of pressure packages.
Beyond production, Van Noy would bring something every contender values. Experience. A two-time Super Bowl champion with more than a decade in the NFL, he's played in virtually every situation imaginable. His veteran presence could prove invaluable for a Vikings defense that will rely on young defenders to take on larger roles in 2026. Having another accomplished veteran in the edge room could accelerate their development while providing Minnesota with another trusted option in critical situations.
Adding Van Noy would also help keep the Vikings' edge rotation fresh over the course of a 17-game season. Rather than asking Van Ginkel and Turner to shoulder nearly every meaningful snap, Flores could rotate another proven pass rusher into the mix while giving Ingram-Dawkins time to continue earning a larger role.
