USC’s JuJu Watkins Hosts Girls Basketball Camp at Galen Center

USC women’s basketball superstar JuJu Watkins hosted more than 150 girls at a youth basketball camp at the Galen Center on Sunday. Girls in grades third through eighth were eligible to participate in the one-day camp.

Multiple volunteer coaches helped run drills and scrimmages during the camp, and Watkins even stepped in to play with the campers.

“This is what basketball should feel like,” Watkins said to reporters about having fun on the court, per the Orange County Register.

Watkins told reporters she enjoys working with the young girls, because they bring a fun and youthful energy to the sport.

“The girls coming in, they’re super excited,” Watkins said, per the Orange County Register. “They’re curious. They’re asking questions. I know a lot of them are younger, but it’s really cool to be around such youthful and fun energy.

“Just knowing that they look up to me and they think I’m cool. It’s cool to know that they think I’m cool.”

Watkins Is Back From An ACL Tear

Watkins is officially back on the court after missing all of last season with an ACL tear. The 2024-25 National Player of the Year tore her ACL in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament then underwent surgery that sidelined her for her entire junior campaign.

Now, Watkins is healthy and is looking to lead the Trojans to a national title in 2027.

In addition to Watkins’ return, the reigning National Freshman of the Year, Jazzy Davidson, is returning to USC as a sophomore. USC also secured the nation’s No. 1 recruiting Class of 2026, which includes the consensus No. 1 overall national recruit Saniyah Hall.

Watkins has a chance to pull off one of the greatest comeback seasons in NCAA history by bringing USC its first national title since 1984.
