3 Pitchers Atlanta Braves Could Trade for Before Deadline
· Yahoo Sports
The Atlanta Braves have been one of the better teams in MLB throughout the season so far. With that being said, upgrading the starting rotation should be the goal for Atlanta. Chris Sale is an ace, but the overall rotation has question marks.
Let's take a look at three starting pitchers the Braves could trade for before the deadline.

Sonny GrayGray, 36, plays for a Boston Red Sox ball club that is suddenly in contention. There are no guarantees he will be available for a trade. He has a mutual option for 2027, though, so the Red Sox could lose him in free agency after the season. They may prefer to trade him for prospects or even MLB talent before the deadline given the circumstances.
Gray has pitched to a 2.54 ERA across 17 outings so far in 2026. He is performing well and he will be a popular trade candidate if he is made available. Of course, he is also familiar with the National League, as he has previously spent time with the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals.
Robbie RayRay is probably the likeliest player mentioned in this article to be traded this season. The 34-year-old will be a free agent after the season and the San Francisco Giants have struggled this year.
The veteran left-hander is still finding success on the mound, as he has turned in a 3.38 ERA up to this point in the '26 campaign. Many teams around the MLB world would love the idea of adding a veteran such as Ray.
The fact that he is entering free agency after the season may cause some ball clubs to look elsewhere. The Braves are likely going all in on this season, though, so a trade for Ray would be difficult to argue against.
Joe RyanSimilarly to Gray, Ryan pitches for a team that is suddenly in contention. Ryan is not guaranteed to be traded before the upcoming deadline. Also similarly to Gray, Ryan has a mutual option for next year.
Ryan will be one of the most popular trade candidates before the deadline if the Twins make him available. The right-handed hurler was an All-Star for the second time this season, as he currently holds a 2.85 ERA.
The Braves may be open to the idea of adding Ryan to their Chris Sale-led starting rotation.
Gray, Ray or Ryan are all reasonable trade candidates for the Braves if they are made available for potential deals by their current teams.
