From Kerim Alajbegović to Can Uzun and about a dozen other names in between, Roma’s scheming to acquire a hybrid attacker hasn’t been well-disguised, and for good reason—an aggressive, hyper-malleable winger/forward is critical to Gian Piero Gasperini’s brand of football. The latest name linked to the Giallorossi is perhaps the most versatile player we’ve discussed this summer.

Strasbourg’s Diego Moreira, who just saw his run with Belgium at the World Cup come to a screeching halt, gives new meaning to the word adaptable. While the 20-year-old left-footer is primarily an inverted right-winger, Moreira has seen time in midfield, attacking midfield, and even as a left wing-back. However, Moreira is much more than a mere utilityman. Since becoming a full-time top-flight player in 2024, Moreira has recorded seven goals and 14 assists in approximately 5,500 minutes.

Between his performance in Ligue 1 and his role with Belgium this summer, Moreira is becoming an object of desire in European circles.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio and others, Roma is prepping a €30 million transfer offer with a 10% sell-on clause for the Belgian attacker. However, to no one’s surprise, Strasbourg wants just a bit more for their up-and-coming talent. While Di Marzio mentions that Moreira’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to facilitate the transfer, Strasbourg have been reluctant to come down from their €50 million valuation.

Unfortunately, a €15 to €20 million gap is par for the course for the Giallorossi, but take a look at this kid’s highlight reel, and it’s easy to see why Roma might be tempted to drop the proverbial bag on Moreira.
