Real Madrid earn €10 million as former defender moves to AC Milan

One way that has helped the white club earn this money from their academy graduates despite not giving them ample first team opportunities is by selling them to other clubs where they can play regularly, while keeping future options on them.
They have once again obtained a significant sum from such a setup, as Diario AS notes that their academy-trained centre-back, Mario Gila, has officially completed his transfer from Lazio to AC Milan.
Real Madrid had a right to get 50% of any transfer fee paid for the defender, but the report mentions that the Merengues would get around €10 million from this operation, despite an agreement having been reached for around €28 million. The Biancocelesti had previously rejected an offer of €25 million fixed plus €2 million in variables from the Rossoneri.
The player has already passed his medical and his signing is official. For now, he would be looking to join his new team in preseason training, which is set to start on 13th July, the same day as Jose Mourinho begins his preseason training at Real Madrid.
While the Merengues get a significant chunk of money from this transfer, the fans will be hoping Mario Gila continues to grow and enjoy success in this new adventure in his career, and maybe return to Real Madrid at some point in the future, when he has established himself as a top-class defender in Europe.
