· Yahoo Sports
Javonte Green is headed back to the Pistons after a successful first season in Detroit. He agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Pistons to return for the 2026-27 season. That means a second straight in Detroit for Green, who’s carved out a nice NBA career for himself.

Green played in all 82 games for the Pistons last season as a bench option. He averaged 6.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists, also shooting 38.1% on his 3-pointers for a team that didn’t have much spacing. Green was a nifty piece for a Detroit squad that won 60 wins game last season and earned the East’s No. 1 seed.
While Green, who turns 33 this month, started his career overseas after going undrafted in 2015, he’s now entering his eighth NBA season. He started his NBA career with the Celtics in the 2019-20, making the roster out of training camp and Summer League. Green played in a combined 73 games with the C’s over the course of 1.5 seasons before getting traded to Chicago.

Green has bounced around the league since then, also playing for the Pelicans and Cavaliers. It seems like he’s found a nice role in Detroit as a veteran contributor off the bench. The Pistons are looking to take the next step after their breakout season that came to an end in the East semifinals.
