Arsenal lead Premier League clubs in key World Cup stat

Arsenal lead the Premier League clubs for the most goal involvements at the World Cup so far, and with 10 players in the quarter-finals, their tally could increase further.

TNT Sports report that with 20 goal involvements at the World Cup so far, Arsenal are the Premier League club with the most goals and assists at this year’s tournament.

Kai Havertz was Arsenal’s top scorer before Germany’s elimination, netting three times. Leandro Trossard has scored twice, Gabriel Martinelli, Mikel Merino, and Viktor Gyokeres once each.
In terms of assists, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard have three each. Once again, Trossard has two, and Gyokeres has two as well. Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes have one assist each, completing the 20.

Though Arsenal are already leading the Premier League clubs, they still have the chance to further add to their World Cup tally in the quarter-finals.
The Gunners have 10 players spread across France, Spain, Belgium, Norway, and England, so there’s plenty of potential for more goals and assists in the next round.
More than that, Spain face Belgium and Norway face England, so at least two teams with Arsenal players will also take part in the semi-finals. If France beat Morocco in their quarter-final, they’ll face the winner of Spain-Belgium, which would guarantee one Arsenal finalist.

On an individual note, none of Arsenal’s players are close to World Cup top scorer Lionel Messi on eight goals. Trossard is the nearest player who hasn’t been eliminated, and he’d need to score six goals in Belgium’s remaining games just to catch up.
But the award for the most assists is still up in the air, with competition leader Michael Olise on five assists, just two ahead of Saka and Odegaard.
At least one of Saka and Odegaard will play three more games (either England or Norway will make the semis, guaranteeing either the final or the third-place play-off). So if Olise fails to increase his tally, that race is still on.
