A substitute teacher who sent an Indiana middle school student nude photos of herself was sentenced to two years behind bars.

Cassidy Carter pleaded guilty to one count of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, WXIX reported.

She was given two days of credit.

Carter was originally charged with one count of child solicitation, but Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens indicated it was dropped after the victim moved out of the area and wanted no part in the case.

Where did she work?

The former educator, who was 21 at the time, was employed as a substitute teacher for the South Dearborn Community School Corporation.

She worked at South Dearborn Middle School from September to November 2023, when she sent the nudes to a 14-year-old student via Snapchat, according to the criminal complaint.

“Shocking, no. Alarming, yes,” Sheriff Shane McHenry told the outlet.

“But the fact that they felt comfortable enough to tell an adult to bring this forward was an important part of this investigation.”

What did she send him?

The teen said he became friends with Carter via Snapchat.

During their online conversations, Carter sent the teen explicit images of herself every time she took a shower, often late at night, authorities said.

She also allegedly told the boy that she was in love with him and wanted to have sex with him.

Investigators found the photos on Carter’s phone, along with several messages, prosecutors said.

The student told a school resource officer in December 2023, who then informed the principal about what happened, court records state.
