Polish powerhouse Iga Swiatek continues to cut a path through the competition in her Wimbledon title defense and faces Alexandra Eala on Saturday. She’s not the only major titleholder in action, either, as Australian Open champion Alexander Zverev returns in the men’s singles against American Marcos Giron.
Swiatek finally got her hands on Wimbledon gold last year and appears to be in fine shape once more as she mounts another title challenge. The six-time major-winner showed a rare stutter in form against Taylor Townsend in her opener, but looked to be closer to her usual level in a decisive 6-1, 6-3 win over Karolina Pliskova in the second round.
Along with Zverev, great American hope Taylor Fritz is also back on center stage when the sixth seed takes on Lorenzo Sonego in what promises to be a top-tier contest. Fritz is yet to drop a set thus far at the tournament, but Sonego isn’t to be underestimated as he looks to reach the fourth round for a second year running
American fans will be excited for the third-round showdown between veteran U.S. representatives Madison Keys and Amanda Anisimova, who finished as runner-up at SW19 last year. Elsewhere, Emma Navarro looks to continue her resurgence in a clash opposite fellow seed Marta Kostyuk.
