Carmelo Anthony gives his thoughts on Sixers trading for Jaylen Brown
· Yahoo Sports
The Philadelphia 76ers pulled off the stunner of the offseason when they found a way to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics by giving up Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks. When considering the season Brown just had, as well as his overall resume, one would have thought that Philadelphia would probably have to give up more than just that package in a deal.

Brown, obviously, had a weird ending to his 10-year career with the Celtics. He, obviously, had a helluva season, but his name was squarely in trade talks for Boston to chase Giannis Antetokounmpo. When those talks failed, it appeared the Celtics didn't want to deal with the possibility of a slighted Brown.
It's the return Boston got for one of the premier players was a bit underwhelming, however, and that's what Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony is focused on:
I think this is top level. This has nothing to do with Jayson Tatum and JB. Those guys are very close. I think this is top level and Boston just exposed their hand. They exposed their hand. You don't go out there and dangle Jaylen Brown out there like that. Like why? We two years out of this (championship). We fresh!
Carmelo Anthony is confused and dumbfounded at the Jaylen Brown trade to the Sixers:

The end to the Brown era with the Celtics was a bit surprising, but the Sixers will now move forward with the 10-year veteran joining Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid in an effort to chase down the defending champion New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers should be considered the top contender to the Knicks at the moment.
