Allegri, who was relieved of his duties at Milan just over a month ago, succeeds Antonio Conte. Since the end of the 2025-26 season, nine of the 20 Serie A teams have already changed coach.

Allegri's second spell at Milan ended in disappointment. After a slump in the second half of the season, the team missed out on qualification for the Champions League.

Previously, the Italian won five league titles with Juventus where he also reached two Champions League finals. Allegri also won the league once with Milan in his first stint in 2011.

Former Italy coach Conte announced his departure from Napoli immediately after the season finale having won the title the previous campaign.

According to media reports, the 56-year-old is close to an agreement to return as Italy boss.

He previously coached the Azzurri from 2014 to 2016. Italy have missed the World Cup three times in a row.
