Both Chisholm and Domínguez started chasing after a fly ball hit by Tigers’ second baseman Hao-Yu Lee in the fourth inning at Yankee Stadium on Monday. Domínguez ended up making the grab, but he accidentally drilled Chisholm in the head with his arm as he ran by.
Chisholm immediately fell to the ground, reaching for his head, as Domínguez spun out of the play still on his feet. Chisholm remained down for quite some time before he was eventually helped off the field.

He was then taken out of the game and replaced by Oswaldo Cabrera. The team said he is currently in concussion protocol. The severity of the injury and how long Chisholm might be sidelined are unknown.
The Tigers were up 7-0 at the time, and they cruised to the blowout win without any issue from there. They put up four runs in the second inning alone to blow the game wide open, and Kevin McGonigle hit a two-RBI single just before Chisholm’s injury.
Amed Rosario did hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on the board, but that was all they could manage.
Chisholm, 28, entered Monday night with a .223 batting average with 12 home runs and 33 RBI on the season. He struck out in his one at-bat in the loss.
The Yankees have now lost five straight after they found themselves on the wrong side of a four-game sweep with the Boston Red Sox last weekend. Monday’s loss pushed them to 48-36 on the season. The Tigers have now won just two of their last seven games, and sit at 36-49. The two teams will run it back again on Tuesday night.
