The Los Angeles Lakers apparently want to sign Sandro Mamukelashvili in free agency.

The big fella they call Mamu might have a last name that's tough to comprehend, and he might not be the most high-profile free agent. But the reported interest in Mamukelashvili by the Lakers, brought up by insider Marc Stein, is exciting.

Simply put, Mamu is an incredibly gifted offensive player.

Mamukelashvili spent the 2025-26 season with the Toronto Raptors after playing for the San Antonio Spurs before that.

He actually had a player option to stay with the Raptors, but it was just $2.8 million, so he gladly entered free agency, where he'll get a lot more money.

Mamukelashvili is coming off a season in which he averaged 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He shot 52.3% from the floor, including 38.9% from 3-point range.

The 27-year old is listed at 6-foot-9, although he seems to play bigger.

He's left-handed, as well, and has lots of tattoos.

For an offense where Luka Doncic is the center of attention, Mamu would provide a solid secondary option who can both pop to the perimeter but also make plays near the paint.

Mamu also may have put together the best 19-minute stat line in NBA history when he played for the Spurs.

On March 19, 2025, this is what he did in 19 minutes:

  • 34 points
  • 13-14 FG
  • 7-7 3FG
  • 1-1 FT
  • 9 rebounds
  • 3 assists

Yeah, that's a guy the Lakers should want.
