On Tuesday, June 30, head coach T.J. Otzelberger announced that freshman Christian Wiggins will miss the entire season after suffering a torn Achilles during summer workouts. Otzelberger said Wiggins has already undergone a successful surgery to deal with the injury.

Though he has not yet set foot on the hardwood at the college level, Wiggins is a promising player. As a recruit, Wiggins is the No. 1-ranked player in the state of Minnesota for 2026 and was ranked in the top 75 nationally, according to 247 Sports.

As a senior at Wayzata High School, Wiggins helped the Trojans capture their third Minnesota Class 4A state title in five years to top off their 28-4 season. He had 21 points, five rebounds and three assists in the state championship game. The 6-foot-5 guard also had 31 points, including six 3-pointers, in the Trojans' section title-winning game earlier in the postseason. He averaged 19.1 points per game as a junior and hit the 1,000-point milestone for his high school career.

Wiggins played AAU basketball for a talented D1 Minnesota team on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. He plays with a high motor and is an impact player on both ends of the court, serving as a versatile, quick-footed defender, while a scorer that's capable of putting up points at all three levels on the other end.
