What can Chris Cenac Jr. bring to the Boston Celtics?
· Yahoo Sports
Chris Cenac Jr. fell into the Boston Celtics' lap as they made their selection with the 27th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The explosive big man was expected to come off the board in the late teens or early 20s. Instead, Brad Stevens found himself a potential steal as the first round drew to a close.
Cenac, 19, enters the NBA with the expectations of being somewhat of a project. He has fantastic athletic ability and is a capable switch defender, which plugs a specific gap within Boston's rotation. Furthermore, he's shown flashes of having the upside to become a capable floor spacing, having shot 33.3 percent from deep on 2.4 attempts per game during his time with the Houston Cougars.

However, Cenac also has a lot to work on. His timing, screening, and positioning are all areas that will need to be developed for the next level. He will likely split his time between the Celtics and the Maine Celtics in the G-League. Fortunately for Cenac, Boston has a strong track record of player development in recent years, and his potential and work ethic should ensure he makes the most of the opportunity.
If you haven't seen much of Cenac's game, the Tomasz Kordylewski YouTube channel recently posted a highlight reel from his maiden season in the collegiate ranks.
