Ohio State is wrapping up the month of June with a big-time commitment from deep in the south. Not only did the Buckeyes beat out a major SEC program for a new offensive piece of the future, but they landed a top 75 player in the process.

Ohio State Buckeyes rise late to beat Ole Miss for an elite offensive line commitment

Ohio State has been recruiting four-star Jackson Academy (MS) OT Caden Moss for quite some time, even before they offered him in April of last year. Ole Miss was always seen as the favorite, but the Buckeyes have stayed near the top, and have now beaten Ole Miss for a strong verbal commitment from the 6-foot-5 offensive lineman.

Moss announced his commitment to play for offensive line coach Tyler Bowen in Columbus on Friday evening. The Buckeyes beat out Ole Miss, Kentucky, Oregon, and Tennessee to land the 320-pound offensive lineman.

Ohio State's newest commitment was last on campus in March, but he's taken multiple visits to Columbus, and he now adds to what is a special offensive line haul for the Buckeyes. Moss can potentially play tackle or guard for the Buckeyes in the future, which is the kind of versatility Ryan Day wants for his team up front.

Ohio State steals this one late right away from the Ole Miss Rebels

Moss took official visits to Tennessee, LSU, Oregon, Kentucky, and finished with Ole Miss just last weekend. Following the visit to Ole Miss, noise began to pick up that the Buckeyes were actually the team to beat.

"Over the final week, however, the dynamics shifted. Ohio State gained traction at the perfect time. Tyler Bowen and Ryan Day's staff have generated the strongest buzz entering decision day, pushing the Buckeyes ahead in a race that changed repeatedly over the last several days," On3's Chad Simmons wrote recently. "Moss considered Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Ohio State his final three heading into the finish, but the momentum now points toward Columbus."

According to 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Moss is the No. 72 player nationally and No. 7 offensive tackle. The Mississippi native gives the Buckeyes their sixth offensive line commitment. Kellen Wymer is a top-50 in-state offensive tackle, joined by Mason Wilt and Davis Seaman as Buckeye State commitments in the trenches. Brody McNeel is a four-star commitment from Virginia for the Buckeyes.

We'll see what the Ohio State offensive line haul looks like in the winter when it's time to sign, but for now, it's looking like a group to be very excited about.
