K9 CACHE TO THE RESCUE: Halton cops add new member to their policing family

The Halton Regional Police Service has introduced K9 Cache as the newest member of their policing family.
“Since becoming operational in March of 2026, K9 Cache has proven to be an invaluable asset, helping our investigators locate concealed electronic evidence with continued success.” Deputy Chief Jeff Hill, of Investigative and Frontline Support Services, said in a statement released Friday. “Her specialized abilities have proven to be a significant resource that will enhance and strengthen the overall effectiveness of our investigative operations.”
Cache – pronounced Cash – is an Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) dog, specially trained to detect hidden electronic devices such as cellphones, tablets, hard drives, USB drives, memory cards, hidden cameras and GPS tracking devices.
A rare breed
The labrador retriever-mix, initially selected and trained by Jordan Detection K9 in Indianapolis, is one of 10 ESD’s in Canada.
Following the completion of a five-month training program, Cache was donated to the HRPS by Our Rescue, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to combating child sexual exploitation and human trafficking worldwide. Her primary role is to assist investigators with sexual exploitation and human trafficking investigations.
However, in addition to her investigative duties, Cache also serves an important secondary role by offering comfort and wellness support to victims of crime, their families, and officers conducting these sensitive investigations.
