Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty tops short list of high upside fantasy backs

Will Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty be able to service fantasy football owners looking to select a dark horse to finish as the top RB1 in 2026? The top drafted 2025 back was slowed his rookie seasson by lackluster run protection. But he showed signs of being a ball-carrier capable of emerging in 2026.

Pro Football Focus put together a short list of high-variance running backs and topping that list was Jeanty with the highest upside to outpace the elite players at his position as the overall RB1 in fantasy football next season.

”Las Vegas has a new head coach this season, and the team selected quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick. The Raidersalso entered the offseason with significant cap space and invested in the offensive line by adding center Tyler Linderbaum, a move that should help improve Jeanty's efficiency.”

With an improved offensive line and the sophisticated offensive play-calling of Raiders coach Klint Kubiak catered to aid Jeanty in the ground game, the talented second-year running back will be positioned to greatly exceed his 2025 numbers in which he had 1321 yards from scrimmage (975 rushing) and ten touchdowns (five rushing).

That being said, an increase of at least 600 scrimmage yards is likely what it will take to beat out a competitive field of running backs across the league, including Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley to be the overall fantasy football RB1 next season.
