Among the needs that the San Antonio Spurs have, going after a forward who can shoot the basketball at a high level seems to be at the top of that list. If there was one problem the Spurs had during the NBA Finals, it was their inability to find offense from certain guys down the stretch.

Whether it was missing three-point shots, failing to score down the stretch, or other problems, the Spurs can hopefully fix them by making the right moves in the offseason. One player who has popped up is Los Angeles Lakers forward Rui Hachimura, a veteran who has shown he can hit big shots and who would fit in nicely at just 28 years old with what San Antonio is looking to do now and in the future.

“The Lakers are looking to bring back much of their core in the coming weeks, but they’re also understanding that they’re not going to be able to have everyone return. One player who might well be heading out is Rui Hachimura, who has been a valuable role player as a stretch-forward who has some defensive versatility but who can be replaceable. There is interest in Hachimura, and the expectation is that he could leave to a team willing to pay him more than the midlevel exception, but that the Lakers would get back a piece in a sign-and-trade. That could be an important part of the Lakers’ summer," wrote Heavy's Sean Deveney.

The most intriguing part of Hachimura's game is his ability to hit open shots. He shot 44.3% from three-point range a year ago, including 51.4% from the field.

He also takes a ton of threes, so the volume is there, which would mean pairing him with guys like Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle, and Victor Wembanyama would only make his life easier.

The gravity those guys have would be the best he's had in his career, and that should bode well for his ability to impact a contending team.
