49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk makes wild proclamation in latest post

The San Francisco 49ers technically still have Brandon Aiyuk on their roster for the 2026 season, but the wide receiver will not play for the team when they take the field in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia.

San Francisco cut Aiyuk's guaranteed money after he failed to follow the team's recovery plan from his torn ACL and cut off communication from the 49ers last year.

Now, as Aiyuk looks forward to the future, the wideout posted a video on social media on Wednesday, claiming that he'd immediately sign with a new team once San Francisco officially moves on.

“If I’m crazy or if I’m cappin’, tell them boys to cut me today. And I’ll sign with the Commanders tomorrow, and we’ll see who’s cappin’," Aiyuk said.

Aiyuk and the Commanders have been linked for months, as Aiyuk and Washington's quarterback Jayden Daniels have a previous relationship. The 28-year-old receiver has also been repping the Commanders consistently on social media despite being under contract with the 49ers.
