Among Florida State's seven position groups evaluated, the wide receivers earned the highest ranking, checking in at No. 3 in the conference. The Seminoles also received a strong evaluation at running back, where the unit was ranked fourth among ACC programs. The rankings suggest Athlon views Florida State's skill-position talent as one of the team's strengths heading into the fall. The Seminoles added several offensive playmakers through recruiting and the transfer portal while returning key contributors at both positions.

On the other side of the ball, Athlon ranked Florida State's defensive line and linebacker units seventh in the ACC, while the defensive backs came in eighth. Those rankings place each group in the middle tier of the conference as the Seminoles work to improve a defense that underwent significant roster turnover during the offseason.

The offensive line was ranked 10th, indicating continued questions surrounding one of Florida State's most scrutinized position groups. The Seminoles addressed the unit through both high school recruiting and the transfer portal, but national analysts appear to be taking a wait-and-see approach entering the season.

Quarterback was the program's lowest-ranked position group, coming in at No. 12 in the ACC. Florida State is turning to transfer quarterback Ashton Daniels in 2026 after he arrived in Tallahassee from the Auburn Tigers. While Daniels brings significant experience to the position, Athlon's ranking suggests the conference remains deep at quarterback entering the season.

With preseason camp still weeks away, the rankings provide an early national perspective on the Seminoles' roster makeup. Whether Florida State outperforms those projections will likely play a major role in determining where Mike Norvell's team finishes in the ACC standings this fall.
