Florida's Phil Trautwein among best college football offseason moves
· Yahoo Sports
The Athletic pinpointed the best offseason moves by every Power Four team in the country, providing a preview for the 2026 college football season.
Among the most notable moves was not a player addition but a personnel piece primed to make a big impact at Florida. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein, a former Gator and national champion in 2006 and 2008, takes over in the trenches and is expected to turn the front into a catalyst for new head coach Jon Sumrall and Florida.

Manny Navarro from The Athletic identified Trautwein as one of his favorite offseason personnel moves.
"If the Gators are going to return to glory, it will need to start up front on both sides of the line of scrimmage," Navarro says. "Trautwein, who coached 35 all-conference offensive linemen and three first-round picks in his time at Penn State and Boston College, has already started to pay dividends on the recruiting trail."
Florida's return to prominence in the SEC will largely depend on Trautwein's ability to establish a dominant front, making him arguably Jon Sumrall's most important hire. Bringing a strong developmental resume to Gainesville, the former First-Team All-SEC offensive tackle has helped groom 35 all-conference linemen and guided three first-round draft picks to the NFL.
Trautwein's impact can already be felt, as he was a key cog in bringing five-star 2027 recruit OL Maxwell Hiller into the fold.
