Newest New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown's career with the Philadelphia Eagles was defined by controversial moments on and off the football field.

It came as no surprise when news circulated that his exit from Philadelphia might have been a little bit messy.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo broke a story last week that came from a source inside the Eagles locker room, saying the three-time All-Pro receiver left behind a gift after he was traded to New England. That gift was a signed picture of Brown participating in the Pro Bowl that he had autographed with a message that read, "The best to ever play here, always open."

Fox29 Philadelphia's Jeff Skversky asked Brown if he could confirm the rumor.

"I'm not going to get into that," Brown said after being asked about the message he was trying to send. "I appreciated my time in Philly. I'm where my feet are, so that's the only thing that matters."

Brown confirmed that the story was true and, for what it's worth, was smiling ear to ear when discussing how he would not get into it. The receiver clearly feels like he got the last laugh on the way out of Philadelphia.
