OnlyFans model and California housewife Michaela Rylaarsdam’s clandestine capers will not be filmed going forward.

The 32-year-old was sentenced to four years in prison in San Diego on Monday.

Rylaarsdam, 32, pleaded guilty last month to one count of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the 2023 death of 55-year-old Michael Dale, of Escondido.

Took victim for $11,000

“I was going back and forth as to whether I should say something, and if I would say the wrong thing,” she told the San Diego courtroom. “But it would be a poor example to my children if I did not. When something bad happens, we need to take ownership.”

Rylaarsdam and Dale had met several weeks before his death through an online directory for adult content, Deputy District Attorney David Jarman said. The pair communicated via WhatsApp, where Rylaarsdam charged him for text messages, Jarman added.

It was a tasty caper.

In just a few weeks, Dale coughed up more than $11,000 to the OnlyFans model.

High blood pressure and diabetes

But on April 17, 2023, Rylaarsdam travelled to Dale’s home in Escondido. She had been hired to perform BDSM activities. No sex act occurred between the two of them, Jarman said, but the activities led to Dale’s death.

He was a fragile man who suffered from a number of medical conditions, including high blood pressure and diabetes. Rylaarsdam’s plan was to post Dale’s sexual humiliation on her OnlyFans account.

His wrists were bound and a plastic bag was taped over his head for seven minutes. It was enough to kill him and Rylaarsdam frantically dialled 911. She was initially charged with second-degree murder.

She sobbed throughout the proceedings and told the court she was disappointed in herself. Rylaarsdam had written a letter addressed to Dale’s family a year ago in an attempt to explain herself.

Rylaarsdam believed any explanation was inappropriate.

“‘I’m sorry’ is not enough,” Rylaarsdam told the court. “The desire to go back and undo this would be at the top. I have a million emotions.”

‘No intent to kill Mr. Dale’

Her lawyer, David Cohen, added: “Clearly, there was no intent to kill Mr. Dale. This was clearly an accident.”

Dale’s family did not attend proceedings. Rylaarsdam was supported by her husband and an uncle.

Superior Court Judge Brad Weinreb still had harsh words for Rylaarsdam.

“I know you’ve taken responsibility, but at the end of the day we’re dealing with the unfortunate and preventable death that was caused by your actions,” Weinreb told her. “The actions were so reckless that death was almost certain.”

Even though the digital diva and Dale had an agreement, Weinreb added that the charges could have been much higher.

Cohen claimed Rylaarsdam only engaged in the OnlyFans business to support her struggling family.

“It’s a tragic situation,” Cohen said. “She never intended to kill anyone.”

Rylaarsdam has been in jail since February 2025 and will likely remain incarcerated for a little more than a year due to credits for time already served.
