Brandon Aiyuk Sends Cryptic Message to 49ers as Future Remains Unclear: 'Stop Running From the Belt'

The Brandon Aiyuk situation may finally be reaching its climax.
On Saturday, Aiyuk posted a photo on his Instagram story donning a Washington Commanders hat. Aiyuk has long been linked to Washington in a potential trade, given the relationship he formed with star quarterback Jaden Daniels while the two attended Arizona State University.

On Sunday, Aiyuk again took to Instagram in a controversial manner, this time issuing a message seemingly meant for the Niners organization.
"Man, stop running from the belt. The belt coming. You scared. They scared. Truth is, they scared. They know how I get," Aiyuk said. "They gonna say, 'Oh yeah, BA, BA, BA did this, BA did that. BA did, you know that s---, allegedly. Allegedly. But what they not gonna say is, 'BA suck at football,' cause they know how I get. And they running from that belt that's on the way."
Aiyuk's social media antics come just days after the Santa Clara County (California) District Attorney's Office issued a warrant for his arrest stemming from a misdemeanor traffic violation the 28-year-old actually posted on his Instagram story back in December.
In the video, Aiyuk filmed himself speeding past Levi's Stadium at over 100 miles per hour.
It may be hard to believe, but this saga between the Niners and Aiyuk is approaching two years old.
His first trade request came in 2024 as a negotiation tactic before being handed a four-year, $120 million deal. Aiyuk then tore his ACL after appearing in just seven games for San Francisco and hasn't been seen on the field in the scarlett red and metallic gold since.
Niners GM John Lynch has maintained a willingness to trade Aiyuk, albeit for the right price.
Presently, the Commanders are likely the only team that remains interested in acquiring Aiyuk, and they're using that reality as leverage. Why trade for someone no one else would trade for? Washington is simply waiting for Aiyuk to be released.
And if these antics continue, which surely deplete whatever little value Aiyuk holds as an asset, perhaps San Francisco will opt to just release the former first-round pick.
It's not like there's any chance of the relationship healing. Aiyuk's time with the Niners is done. So, why continue to allow this shadow to hover over the rest of the organization?
Either Lynch needs to lower the asking price (if that's even possible at this point) or release Aiyuk so the franchise can collectively leave his tenure in the past as it looks toward the future.
