New York City will surely turn into a madhouse Wednesday when the Knicks begin their quest to win an NBA title for the first time in 53 years.

There will be no shortage of venues to watch their best-of-seven series against the San Antonio Spurs playout. It’s probably best for fans who couldn’t score tickets to make a game plan now if they want to share the historic experience with their fellow New Yorkers.
Spurs fans may also want to think ahead if they plan to watch their team compete for its first title since 2014 and sixth since 1999 when they beat the Knicks.
Game one takes place Wednesday in San Antonio followed by a Friday rematch. Both teams then travel to Manhattan for a Monday night game followed by a July 10 showdown. Provided neither club finishes the series early, game five takes place June 13 in Madison Square Garden. Games six and seven would happen in Texas on June 16 and 19. Game time is 8:30 p.m. throughout the series.
The best place to see the action will likely be Madison Square Garden (MSG). “The World’s Most Famous Arena” will open its doors Wednesday for a watch party while the Knicks are in San Antonio. Tickets are $10, but they’ll be hard to come by. The NYPD denied permits for viewing events outside MSG last month when big crowds became too rowdy.
Central Park also invites fans to catch the action at SummerStage, where admission is free, but registration is required and the event is at capacity.
The Stout NYC bar chain offers one venue just outside the Garden at 215 35th St., as well as Bryant Park and Grand Central locations. Their 60 E. 41st St. location is a popular spot for University of Texas football fans so there’s a chance Spurs fans may be at least tolerated. A receptionist answering phones Tuesday said “just Knicks fans” have been in contact so far.
Brooklyn’s Bk Backyard Bar in Williamsburg calls itself a “17,000 sq. ft. open-air playground” on 151 Banker St., with more than 40 television and a 20-foot video wall.
Pig Beach BBQ in Queens is normally closed on Mondays. The sprawling indoor and outdoor barbecue spot will make an exception for Knicks games during the NBA Finals. Reservations for the picnic tables set up outside are not the norm, but the eatery’s website invited groups of 20 or more to inquire about accommodations. The crowd at 35-37 36th St., in Astoria will likely be all in for the Knicks.
Featuring several locations in San Antonio, Yard House could provide a safe mix of Knicks and Spurs fans at its 575 7th Ave., location near Times Square. The big box space includes more than 20 televisions and 100 beers on tap.
