Central Railway’s Bhusawal Division Successfully Removes Long-Standing Encroachment at Tarfile Locality, Akola

A major encroachment removal drive was successfully carried out on 01 June 2026 near Akola Railway Station in the Tarfile locality. The drive resulted in the removal of approximately 164 encroaching structures, both temporary and permanent, occupying railway land for over 40 years.
The operation was the culmination of sustained efforts made over the past three months by the Engineering Department, Legal Department, and Railway Protection Force (RPF). These efforts included serving eviction notices, conducting joint meetings with state authorities, carrying out land measurements, addressing legal and administrative issues, and coordinating with local stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the drive.

The encroachment removal operation was conducted from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with extensive support from state authorities and law enforcement agencies. Considering the possibility of resistance during the demolition process, adequate security arrangements were made by the City Police, Government Railway Police (GRP), and RPF.
With continuous efforts and sustained dialogue by railway officials, all the occupants vacated the structure on their own and no use of force was required.

As a result of the operation, approximately 22,750 square metres of valuable railway land has been freed from encroachment through the demolition of 164 structures. The estimated value of the reclaimed land is approximately ₹25 crore.
Notably, despite repeated notices and continuous efforts over the years, the encroachment could not be cleared earlier. At the request of the occupants, land measurements were also conducted through the State Land Records Department to ensure transparency and due process before undertaking the demolition.
The successful completion of this drive was made possible through the coordinated and dedicated efforts of the Engineering, Legal, and RPF teams of Bhusawal Division, along with the invaluable support of the District Administration, Akola Police, and other State Government authorities. The Division also expresses its gratitude to local public representatives and citizens for their cooperation and support.
The removal of this long-standing encroachment will significantly facilitate future railway development works and infrastructure projects in the area, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency and public service delivery.
