Jun. 1—Three first-time winners, two of them from Douglas County, graced Friday's racing at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior.

Superior's Rob Christman was the first to the flag in a messy WISSOTA Pure Stock feature.

Christman moved up the field as leaders Jessie and Trevor Treviranus both suffered mechanical issues. That left him to lead the restart with six laps to go, but he stayed above the fray behind him for a victory of 1.2 seconds.

In the WISSOTA Hornets, South Range's Nathan Penney outdueled Nick Ruzich, the winner from two weeks ago, to take the lead in the early going. Penney got out of shape on lap 9 of 12 but saved his car and re-established a winning margin of three car lengths.

The night's third first-time winner was Canadian Garrett Paull, who led every lap of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature.

Paull started from the pole but had to maintain his composure over four yellow flags, including one that came out with the white flag in the air, leading to a one-lap dash for the win, which Paull took by seven-tenths of a second.

In WISSOTA Late Models, Travis Budisalovich had a stranglehold on the 25-lap feature. His lead of 1.6 seconds was erased by a mechanical failure in the field bringing out the yellow on lap 17.

On the restart, fellow contender Johnny Broking made a firm bid for the lead, getting into contact with the leader and creating space for Shane Sabraski to pass them both and pull away for the win.

Jody Bellefeuille of Carlton continued a dominant performance started two weeks ago when he led all 20 laps of the WISSOTA Modified feature yet again, taking the advantage early after starting on the outside of the front row. Bellefeuille led by more than six seconds before encountering lapped traffic but still ended up winning by 2.75.

In WISSOTA Super Stock, Ashland's Steve Stuart was a runaway victor, prevailing by nearly eight full seconds.

Stuart also went on to win a Super Stocks feature at ABC Raceway near Ashland on Saturday, that track's first night of racing for the 2026 season.

Brule's Brandon Copp prevailed Saturday in the WISSOTA Modifieds feature, while Mason's Tyler Vernon and Cohasset's Jake Smith finished first in Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks, respectively.

The High Limit 410 winged sprint car series will visit Gondik Law Speedway for the first time on Thursday, June 3, with the regular weekly divisions returning to the track on June 12.
