Charlotte Hornets franchise record in Game 7s
The Hornets are 0-2 in Game 7s throughout franchise history, with their two losses coming 15 years apart. In the 2001 Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. the Milwaukee Bucks, Glenn Robinson (29 points) and Ray Allen (28 points) outdueled Baron Davis (29 points) and Jamal Mashburn (21 points) to earn a 104-95 win. For the Hornets, Elden Campbell posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds but so too did Bucks point guard Sam Cassell, scoring 17 points and dishing out 13 assists.
After winning three straight games while down 0-2 against the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2016 Eastern Conference playoffs, Miami forced Game 7 after a tight seven-point victory in Charlotte. Unfortunately for the Hornets, their run would end there after being blown out 106-73 with their season on the line. For the Hornets, no scorer finished with more than 12 points (Frank Kaminsky), with star point guard Kemba Walker being held to nine points on 3-for-16 shooting. For Miami, Goran Dragic did most of the damage, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and four assists. Hassan Whiteside had a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double while Luol Deng posted an efficient 15 points and eight rebounds on 6-for-9 shooting. Since that season, the Hornets have yet to make the playoffs.
