Sky Sports reporting that Anthony Gordon has agreed a deal that will take him up to the end of June 2031. The England international will have turned 30 by the end of this five year contract.

Just a case now of completing the final paperwork and becoming a Barcelona player.

The only question appears to be whether Barca will formally announce the signing of Anthony Gordon today (Friday 29 May) or Saturday.

They are on a tight schedule as the player is set to fly off with England on Monday (1 June).

A World Cup training camp awaiting, with a friendly against New Zealand in Tampa on Saturday 6 June and then another against Costa Rica on Wednesday 10 June.

Thomas Tuchel will for sure want all of his players gathered by Sunday (31 May) at the very latest, hence the need for urgency and Barcelona making a formal announcement of the signing by Saturday at the very latest. England play their first group match against Croatia on Wednesday 17 June.

There had been a clear determination from both Anthony Gordon and Newcastle United to get a deal done before the World Cup finals. United looking to act early themselves in terms of incoming deals this summer.

The Spanish media reported that the €80m deal was broken down as €70m (Approx £60.64m) guaranteed fixed fee plus €10m (Approx £8.66m) in add-ons, making up a total of €80m (Approx £69.3m). Sky Sports confirming that this is the case, €80m (£69.3m) including the add-ons, rather than on top of the £69.3m.

David Ornstein at The Athletic having previously revealed that there is also a sell-on clause in place, for Newcastle United to potentially benefit further if Anthony Gordon moves on from Barcelona.
