Toronto Police made the announcement on social media Thursday afternoon and then provided more details at a news conference at Earl Bales Park at 3 p.m.

The missing girl was found in a home in Etobicoke at about 1 p.m.

But many questions remain about where she has been for the last 13 days.

Police filled in some of the blanks at the news conference.

“She appears to be I good physical condition,” Supt. Don Belanger said, explaining the teen was taken to hospital to be treated for potential physical injuries and also any “emotional toll the situation may have caused her.”

It is now an investigation to determine “if there is any criminality involved in her prolonged disappearance.”

Belanger would not comment on who or how many were in the home where Esther was found.

No charges have been laid at this point.

It’s not known if if qualify for the $25,000 reward to a person who finds her.

The 14-year-old girl, who is on the Autism spectrum, had been missing since late May 15 in what has been a mystery that has gripped the whole city.

While there have been security photographs released of her after she was spotted on May 16 in a Popeyes Restaurant at Bathurst St. and Wilson Ave., and a sighting of her further south, there has been little presented publicly about her whereabouts.

Her mother and father Shira and Joseph indicated she left the family home late on the Friday night without her telephone and shoes.

They indicated she had left on her own volition and they urged her to come home.

“Please know this clearly: you are not in trouble. Nobody is angry with you. No matter what has happened, all we care about is knowing that you are okay,” Shira said. “If you can contact anyone – family, a friend, police, anyone – please do. We just want to know you are safe.”

Much of the community, as well as Toronto Police and Shomrim Toronto, which protects the Jewish community, have spent the past dozen days searching for her. Police said they searched Earl Bles Park and used air support.

But nothing seemed to turn up.

Spotted May 16 at Mount Dennis TTC station

The last known picture of her was from the early morning of May 16.

While there had been no confirmed sightings, sources provided a photograph of the girl known as Esti at the Mount Dennis TTC station on Wednesday.

There were also people who say they saw her Wednesday at Kennedy subway station in Scarborough.

Her disappearance also created controversy as people in the community had been tearing down her missing posters.

But those close to her did not quit.

“Esti, my love, if you are watching this, please come home,” her mom said last weekend. “We love you so much and we miss you terribly. Your family here, across the country, and around the world are searching and praying for you every minute. Your friends, classmates, neighbours, and community are all worried about you and hoping to see you safe.”

Shira added: “Esti is an incredibly kind, social, and trusting girl. She talks to everyone and makes friends everywhere she goes, which is why we are asking the public to help us look for her.”

The public responded in kind.

Many – like Matthew Taub, Corey Herscu, Meir Weinstein, CIJA, B’nai Brith Canada and journalist Caryma Sa’d – spent countless hours scouring the city looking for her.

She was also in the prayers of many. Those prayers have now been answered.

The good news is Esther has been found safe.
