Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn says the current Arsenal team ‘are very close to eclipsing’ the Invincible team of 2003/04.
Mikel Arteta’s side have won this season’s Premier League and on Saturday will have the chance to complete the league and European double, for the first time in the club’s history.

They go up against PSG in the Champions League final, who won last season’s competition by beating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.
Asked where this team would rank among the Arsenal greats with a win at the weekend, Winterburn said: “This is a great question. In the club’s history, it has to be right up there for sure with the Invincibles. But I think this team can go on and win more titles, more big trophies, get to more Champions League finals.
“So for now, The Invincibles are up there, but this team are very close to eclipsing them for sure. Looking at Premier League era, well you have Man Utd’s treble, City’s treble, what this team are doing is right up there with these for sure.
“But I didn’t watch them week in week out like I do Arsenal, so I can only comment on Arsenal. And this team are one of the best for sure, and hopefully on Saturday they can get over the line in the Champions League and then the talk of what team is the best really gets spoken about.”
Winterburn made 584 appearances for Arsenal over a 13-year-period between 1987-2000, and has made the fifth most appearances of any Arsenal player ever.
