The Miami Hurricanes have done a good job of getting elite talented committed elsewhere to consider coming to Coral Gables. Mario Cristobal pulled off a coup earlier this month when he was able to get elite five-star DB Donte Wright (Long Beach, CA) to flip his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Hurricanes.

Cristobal could be big game hunting again with a now-previously committed player. Four-star Temecula, CA (Chaparral) wide receiver Eli Woodard recently de-committed from USC, and the rumblings were that Miami had come into the picture.

And based on the latest update with Woodard, it appears that’s the case. According to Inside the U, Woodard is going to be part of a big contingency of notable visitors in Coral Gables next weekend.

“Miami has been down here a few times in the last couple weeks, and I got a great relationship with Coach Beard and Coach Cristobal,” Inside the U quoted Woodard as saying. “They are in the mix for me because I believe I could go to Miami and get truly developed.”

Woodard checks in as the No. 191 player, No. 27 wide receiver, and No. 13 player in the state of California for the 2027 cycle. In addition to Miami and USC, he holds offers from Oregon, Michigan, UCLA, Washington, BYU, Arizona State, and several others.

The Canes already have a four-star commitment in the form of local standout Nick Lennear from Miami Northwestern High School. But adding a second playmaker to the class would form a big foundation to follow in the footsteps of Malachi Toney in the years to come.
