In addition to its six top 100 prospects (per MLB Pipeline), the Mariners have several other players who have appeared or been pointed out as potential future top 100 prospects.

Catcher Luke Stevenson is one player who meets the latter description. Shortstop Felnin Celesten is a player who meets the former.

Celesten, who was signed by Seattle to a minor league contract out of the Dominican Republic on Jan. 15, 2023, has been a top 100 prospect for the majority of his time as professional ball player.

However, Celesten has dealt with injuries and inconsistencies throughout his career that led to him falling off most top 100 lists by the end of last season.

Among the ailments that Celesten has dealt with is a hamstring injury and a broken wrist that kept him out of summer ball in 2023 and limited him to just 32 games in the Arizona Complex League in 2024.

Last year, Celesten finally crossed 100 games played in a single season (104) but still missed time with the Single-A Modesto Nuts due to Vertigo-like symptoms. He finished the year with a slash line of .273/.345/.375 with a .720 OPS and hit 19 doubles, three triples and six home runs with 59 RBIs. He stole 21 bases in 30 attempts.

Celesten struggled making the jump from Low-A Modesto to the High-A Everett AquaSox.

In 11 games in Everett, Celesten slashed .158/.313/.289 and hit a triple and a homer with four RBIs.

This season, Celesten has stayed healthy and has been putting together his best year as a professional baseball player.

In 24 games with the AquaSox, the 20-year-old shortstop has slashed .295/.407/.420 with an .827 OPS and has hit six doubles, a triple and a home run with 16 RBIs. He's also swiped six bags in nine attempts.

On Sunday, in a game against the Tri-City Dust Devils, Celesten went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. It was his second-straight multi-hit game, fourth in six contests and seventh of the season.

Celesten still has high-standing within the Mariners organization. He's ranked as the team's seventh prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and is the highest-ranked minor leaguer within the M's system that isn't ranked in the top 100.

At his current pace, Celesten could find his way back onto several top 100 lists before the year is done.
