Like the scoreline, the Colchoneros and the Gunners delivered a performance far less exciting than the confrontation between the Parisians and Bavarians. An analysis greatly nuanced by Atletico coach Diego Simeone.
The Atletico coach even views the fact that they conceded so many goals in a negative light. "When a match ends with a score of 5-4, everyone says: 'What a beautiful match!' I say: they scored five goals against us. I don't know if it's such a good match for us coaches, but on television, it was obviously magnificent," he told Amazon Prime.
Conversely, some observers, such as Thierry Henry, did not hide their disappointment. The former Arsenal striker and CBS analyst believes that the intensity brutally dropped between the two matchups: "Yesterday (Tuesday), we were on the moon. Today (Wednesday), we came back down to planet Earth. A real sleeping pill compared to the match we saw the day before."
Cesc Fabregas Says PSG-Bayern Was Best Match of His LifeCesc Fabregas had the chance to attend Tuesday's PSG 5-4 Bayern. The current Como coach, who has managed to make his club the revelation of Serie A, was invited by PSG to the Parc des Princes' VIP section. He was literally captivated by the spectacle of the two teams, as he admitted at a press conference.
"If you coach one of these teams, it can hurt, but as a spectator, I could not imagine seeing such a match," Fabregas explained.
"I think I saw the best match of my life as a fan. I had a lot of fun; it shows where modern soccer is going, with a lot of pressing and individual duels. I learned a lot of things from this match. It was a pleasure for everyone," he added.
