Connor Prielipp, an alumnus of Tomah High School in western Wisconsin, threw five strong innings and logged his first Major League Baseball win April 27 in the Minnesota Twins' 11-4 win over the Seattle Mariners.
The top Twins prospect, 25, didn't allow a hit until the fifth at rainy Target Field, retiring 12 of the first 13 batters he faced. Though he ultimately allowed a single and two runs in the fifth, he finished the five-inning outing having allowed two runs on one hit, with three walks and five strikeouts.

Prielipp, the organization's minor-league pitcher of the year last year, made his big-league debut against the New York Mets on April 22, striking out six batters and allowing two runs on four hits in four innings, with zero walks. The Mets won the game, 3-2, to snap their lengthy losing streak, but Prielipp did enough to earn another start.
Prielipp, a second-round pick out of the University of Alabama in 2022, was limited to just 11 starts between 2023 and 2024 by injury, then pitched in 24 games last year, with a 4.03 ERA between stops in Class AA and AAA.
He's the second Wisconsinite to make his big-league debut in 2026, joining Port Washington's George Klassen, who has made two starts for the Los Angeles Angels.
It's been a light year for Wisconsinites in MLB this year, though Madison's Drake Baldwin has been one of the best players in the National League. Toronto center fielder Daulton Varsho (Marshfield) continues as a key player for the returning American League champion, but Gavin Lux (Kenosha Indian Trail, Tampa Bay) and Alec Marsh (Milwaukee Ronald Reagan, Kansas City) have yet to appear in a game while sidelined by injury, and Alan Roden (Middleton, Minnesota), Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha, Chicago White Sox) and Ben Rortvedt (Verona, New York Mets) have opened the season in the minor leagues.
Caleb Boushley (Hortonville), who pitched in 25 games last year with Texas, is pitching in the KBO league in Korea.
