Barcelona are considering “extending and improving” Marc Bernal’s contract in a bid to ward off potential admirers of the young midfielder.
Bernal has returned from serious injury this season for Hansi Flick’s side and has impressed back in the first team, scoring five goals from 28 appearances.

According to ESPN, Deco wants to make a change to Bernal’s contract as a reward for his performances and also because he knows there is “lots of interest” in the midfielder from clubs across Europe.
Barcelona are therefore eager to do all they can to keep hold of Bernal and are looking at extending his current deal which runs until 2029.
Bernal was linked with a move away in the winter transfer window in order to gain regular playing time but rejected the chance to join Girona and has since highlighted his commitment to Barca.
“From the beginning, it was clear to me that I wanted to stay,” he told Sport.
“I’ve been here for many years, it’s the club of my life and I’ve made the right decision. The moments I am living now I would not have lived anywhere else. And the titles that we can get, feel unique here.”
Bernal is still only 18 but clearly has a huge future ahead of him, so it’s no surprise to hear Barcelona want to make sure his future is locked down.
