PHS beats Peru in flag

PERU — Plattsburgh used the air and ground to defeat Peru, 27-14 in flag football Wednesday.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 2-0 on the season.

Emma Koon controlled things through the air with 28 completions spread across a number of Plattsburgh receivers. When she couldn’t, the Hornets used their running game to get on the scoreboard.

Emma Tuller, Cali Ryerson and Zoey Frank combined for 172 yards on the ground to lead Plattsburgh.

Piper Deslauriers completed half of her passes to four different Nighthawks, most notably Brynn Bertrand, who caught nine passes for 66 yards.

The duo reversed roles at points during the game as Bertrand completed all but one of her passes to Deslauriers, catching three for 40 yards.

The defense on both sides were busy with numerous players recording five or more flag pulls

Bertrand and Kenly Contessa had six flag pulls with teammate Gretchen King adding five.

Plattsburgh was led by Ryerson with seven. Miyasia Do and Cheyanne Uihlein had five each.
