LeBron James has played numerous games against the Boston Celtics during his 23-year NBA career, including during the playoffs. James has faced the Celtics in seven postseason series, winning five.

James no longer plays in the Eastern Conference, however, so he hasn't played Boston in the playoffs in a while. His last postseason series against them was in 2018, and he's never faced them in the NBA Finals.
That could change this year, however. The Celtics are favored to win the East, while James' Los Angeles Lakers have a chance to win the West if Luka Doncic returns from his hamstring strain soon.
If the Lakers do make the Finals, James wants to face Boston.

"Yeah, with a Lakers-Boston Finals. That'd be crazy. Oh s**t," James told Steve Nash on "Mind The Game" earlier this week. "I had a lot of Celtics series when I was in the East. They don't quite like me there."
Not only is Celtics-Lakers a classic NBA Finals matchup, but Boston fans also hate James after watching him end five of their postseason runs.
Unfortunately, that Finals matchup is a long shot. Los Angeles is a huge underdog in the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Houston Rockets. Even if the Lakers beat the Rockets and Doncic comes back, they're unlikely to beat out the superior Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets, all of whom are more likely to win the West.
Still, James can dream.
