The programme aimed to strengthen leadership capabilities, emotional intelligence, financial understanding, service excellence, and communication skills among participants. Unlike regular management programmes, this MDP was specially designed to address the real-world challenges faced by DVC executives. It covered key issues such as managing Plant Load Factor (PLF) pressures, addressing regulatory constraints, addressing DISCOM payment delays, and making long-term investment decisions between thermal and renewable energy. Spread over 30 hours, the programme focused on practical learning and real-life application. The sessions were designed to connect management concepts with everyday work situations in the power sector.

Day 1 focused on Strategic Leadership, encouraging participants to move beyond departmental thinking and adopt a broader organizational perspective. Through interactive sessions and group activities, they learned the importance of balancing performance with accountability, governance, and stakeholder expectations.

Day 2 emphasized Financial and Business Acumen, helping participants understand how operational decisions affect financial outcomes. The day included a visit to the Finance Lab and sessions on sustainability and service excellence, giving participants practical exposure and deeper insights.

Day 3 concluded with sessions on Operational and Service Excellence. The focus was on building trust, ensuring reliability, and enhancing communication - key elements in public service organizations. Participants were encouraged to apply these learnings in their daily work to improve both performance and service quality.

The programme helped participants connect leadership, finance, and operations in a practical way, giving them a better understanding of the challenges in the power sector. Speaking at the valedictory session, Dean, EEC, Prof Amit Sachan, appreciated the active participation of the DVC officials. He said that such customized programmes are important for developing leaders who can handle complex and changing industry demands.
