Scottie Scheffler sure was moving -- right up the leaderboard.
Scheffler made the cut at Augusta National at a tame even-par.
Then on Saturday, he fired a 7-under 65.
Scheffler was one shot off the course record on the front nine, going out with a 31.
He eagled the par-5 2nd, then got birdie 3, 4, 3 on holes 7, 8 and 9.
Scheffler will have to repeat this kind of round to have any chance on Sunday, but would anyone bet against it?
It's been a weird year for Scheffler, who after a hot start began to play these multi-sided tournaments.
He'd go out slow, barely make the cut, and then fire off a couple big rounds on the weekend. That doesn't always give him enough time to catch up.
Catching up could be the issue again now, but Scheffler certainly found himself on Saturday.
The top of the leaderboard was shifting around between Cameron Young and Rory McIlroy, but it'd sure make for quite the Sunday if Scheffler posts a number that the defending champion McIlroy has to hold off.
This is just a reminder that Scheffler is lurking. As the leaders tee off on Sunday, Scheffler will already be on the course. And he's coming after them.
