The OPP Highway Safety Division says a 20-year-old woman from Mississauga was driving alone when she was making a left turn in wet conditions and lost control of her car on Saturday around 10:46 a.m. on Hwy. 5 at Rock Chapel Rd.

Cops say she ended up driving off the road and rode up the guy wire that supports the hydro pole with her car ending up in a vertical position.

Burlington OPP, Fire and EMS arrived and the vehicle was then removed by a tow truck. The local utility company also attended the scene to assess the damage to the pole.

There were no injuries, minor damage to the car and no charges laid, but the OPP says to remember to adjust your driving when facing wet and slippery road conditions.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

Hamilton Police have seized a loaded firearm following a neighbour dispute in the city’s east end.

Cops say on April 3 around 7:15 a.m., they responded to a residence on Cannon St. near Ottawa St. after reports of two neighbours fighting and causing damage to property.

Upon arrival, both individuals had left the area, but officers were told one of the involved parties may have been in possession of a firearm and they located a male matching the provided description.

Police say when they attempted to speak to the individual, he was uncooperative, and after a brief struggle he was taken into custody and arrested for uttering threats to cause death and for mischief (damage to property).

Following the arrest, officers conducted a search of the individual’s belongings and located a loaded, sawed-off shotgun in a bag, so he’s also been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm.
