The 24-year-old initially struggled, but in the past few weeks, he broke into the Downs starting eleven, becoming one of their best players in the league and CAF Champions League.
According to Soccer Laduma, an unnamed Dutch club is keen on signing Adams from Sundowns but only if he makes the World Cup team.
“He’s back with the national team, and it’s a great opportunity for him. Now he’s just got to go out and prove it,” a source told the publication.
“He has to prove himself like he’s been doing. He must show his stuff against Panama and make sure that he convinces Hugo Broos that he’s the man he’s taking to the World Cup in the US. We are always working on opportunities, but that (World Cup) opens a door,” the source added.
The insider told that Adams chose to stay at Sundowns to fight for his place.
“Someone was telling him to leave the club, and that gave us plenty of headaches. No one sees the headaches we dealt with in December with Jayden. We were trying to convince him to stay (and fight for his place), and the boy struggled with that.
Sundowns could lose Adams
“We explained to him that he’s playing at the best club in Africa. Let’s not even beat around the bush because, for two years now, they have been in the semifinals of the CAF Champions League and are likely to play in the finals and hopefully win it this time,” the source said.
Having impressed against Panama on Friday in Bafana Bafana colours, Adams might be playing his last games for Sundowns before jetting off to the Netherlands.
