PFF Call's Former Clemson Star a "Boom or Bust Free Agent Signing"
· Yahoo Sports
Since being one of the most highly decorated ACC running backs in the history of college football, Clemson’s Travis Etienne hasn’t fully met his lofty NFL expectations.

He has been able to slightly reach a thousand yards rushing in three of his first four seasons, but has only cracked the top ten once in his career. These last two seasons, he’s ranked outside the top 32 in EPA per rush and was splitting carries with Tank Bigsby in 2024.
However, Etienne still shows the flashes of dominance we once saw at Clemson. He was a key piece on a revived Jaguars team last season and was able to leverage a strong contract season into one of the eight highest running back deals in the NFL. PFF called the signing "Boom or Bust," stating "New Orleans is paying Etienne to be an elite rusher. Among 72 running backs with at least 100 carries over the past two years, Etienne’s 72.3 PFF rushing grade ranks 58th. He has forced just 63 missed tackles in that span after forcing 64 in each of his first two NFL seasons."
Travis will likely be the heir apparent to iconic Saints running back Alvin Kamara, who earned five Pro Bowls in nine seasons with the Saints. Etiene will hope to help revive a pitiful New Orleans team, with potential pieces in Quarterback Tyler Shough (the guy from Louisville who beat Clemson in 2024) and Head Coach Kellen Moore (the playcaller who crushed the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in 2024). Etiene has relatively big shoes to fill, but should be welcomed as a replacement for the aging Alvin Kamara.
