The Dallas Cowboys went for it, to an extent.

But in the end, they didn't offer enough to get Maxx Crosby in a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders.

Crosby, as everyone now knows well, was in an agreed-upon trade that would send him from the Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks.

Before that trade could become official, though, the Ravens backed out. They cited medical reasons.

Crosby had recently undergone offseason knee surgery, and apparently something in the picture scared Baltimore enough to have second thoughts.

The Ravens weren't the only team interested, though. It's been reported that Dallas wanted Crosby, too, and now it's known more about what they offered.

This is what ESPN reported in a new story on Tuesday put together by multiple insiders:

"Initial offers centered on Dallas' second first-round pick at No. 20, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa. The Cowboys then offered their top first-rounder at No. 12 and a third-round pick. Ultimately, the Cowboys moved to No. 12 and their second-round pick, but the last two offers, sources said, did not include Odighizuwa, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round selection."

Those aren't bad offers, especially one that would include both the 12th overall pick and a second-rounder.

Obviously, it doesn't top the Ravens' offer of two first-round picks, but the Cowboys made a solid run at it.

What's less clear is whether Dallas will re-engage at some point, and if the Cowboys' offer would be similar or different after what happened between Crosby and Baltimore.
