RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — West Central claimed its first state championship in boys basketball since 2001 with a 66-56 win over reigning state champ Sioux Falls Christian Saturday night in Rapid City.

The Trojans outscored the Chargers by five in each of the first and third quarters and by three in the fourth as they shot 56% for the game.
Connor Mebius notched a game-high 20 points, while Will Kuhl added 15 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Both were named to the all-tournament team.
Ryan Dieleman led SFC with 16 points as he knocked down all four of his 3-point attempts and went 6-of-8 from the floor. Canyon Prins chipped in 13 off the bench, and Carson Nickles posted 12.
The Trojans completed the season 25-0. The Chargers wrapped up the year 22-2 with the two losses coming to West Central.
